Villa row

Walking along the Villa row in Alsó-Lőverek, you can get to know the Sopron City Park of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

At the initiative of Endre Muck, the "father of the forests of Sopron", plots were designated in the vicinity of the oak groves and sweet chestnuts of Sörházdomb, on the slopes of the orchards of Alsó-Lőverek at the end of the 19th century.

Today, you can admire the typical one- or two-storey, Alpine-style villas built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The originally wood structured garden homes with verandas and the Lőver gardens were designed according to strict architectural standards, which were then supervised by the "Lőverek Committee". Among the designers of the buildings, you can find such famous architects from Sopron as János Schiller and János Schármár. You can see the holiday homes, which evoke the atmosphere of the happy times in the section of Villa row up to the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk.
