Savaria Symphony Orchestra - A journey through the world of sounds from Erkel to Kodály
Philharmonic Scarbantia pass
Date: 04.07.2025. 19:00
Place: Ferenc Liszt Culture Centre (Sopron, Liszt Ferenc u. 1)
On this evening, Erika Miklósa and István Horváth are greeting the audience, who are preparing a special Hungarian evening. Their program was composed by selecting arias and duets from the stage works of Ferenc Erkel and Zoltán Kodály, and while the singers rest, the orchestra plays overtures from their works. When it comes to Erkel's stage works, most people first think of Bánk bán and László Hunyadi, and from Kodály to János Háry. And although these three works also offer plenty of beautiful details, the selection is even more colorful, since Erkel composed ten operas, of which we already know more and more, Kodály's oeuvre also includes Székely fónó and Czinka Panna, and even a few surprises a transcript may also be included in the concert program. If you like Hungarian music, verbunkos, folk songs, the personal and heartfelt, then you should definitely not miss this concert, because it is for you!
