Fertőhomoki Country House

The Country House presents the past and traditions of the culturally specific village of Fertőhomok, 15 km from Sopron.

In the first room and kitchen of the house, you can see the interior from the 1930s. The second room features local history documents and seasonal exhibitions. The former stable is an exhibition place for contemporary artists, where three or four artists can introduce their works each year. The courtyard also has pens and a barn, where visitors can see the tools of agricultural occupations typical of the area. The country house is the venue for traditional events, the village day, the walnut festival and the World Heritage Day.

Thanks to the “Jewels of the Fertő Landscape” project, since 2021, the folklore museum now presents the local Croatian culture on a new, interactive information interface. Behind the barn, there is an open-air stage and an auditorium for those coming to enjoy concerts, theatre and dance performances, and you will even find an outdoor oven in the roof covered community space in the courtyard.
