Route description
The hike begins northwest of the bus turnaround, on Hungary’s first nature trail – the Ciklámen Trail, winding through the forest parallel to Lővér Boulevard. Follow the green triangle, then turn right onto the green stripe trail.

The trail passes by an abandoned gneiss quarry and gently climbs to Deák Spring, a perfect rest spot with benches. Continue on the green stripe (which overlaps with the Ciklámen Trail) to reach the Trianon Memorial Park. At the rain shelter, turn south onto the blue cross trail. At the next junction, turn right back onto the green stripe.

Now you’re following the (Kecske) Creek valley, leading to the Pedagógus Spring (now dry), which once flowed from beneath a sycamore tree. Benches and a rain shelter are still found there.

Continue uphill on the green stripe trail until a four-way junction, where you turn left onto the green cross trail. Take a short detour via green circle trail markers and steps to reach Ólom Spring, named for its distinct, iron-rich flavor. After visiting the spring, return to the green cross trail and turn left to follow it back toward Kecske Creek.

This secluded valley is one of the most mysterious areas in the Sopron Hills, known in local lore as a former witches’ gathering place. A centuries-old tale speaks of an elder wand carved from elderwood in this very valley. These magical stories live on in the playful Witch’s Tale Trail near the Károly Lookout Tower.

Crossing the creek again, turn right and follow the green stripe southeast. When you reach the blue cross trail, keep right, and follow both the blue cross and then blue stripe trail markers to the fourth spring, Bögre Spring. You’ll spot a painted mug sign on a tree marking the spring's location. Though a landslide buried its original pipe, the spring still seeps gently from underground.

Turn around and follow the blue stripe trail back toward your starting point. At the Spartacus Memorial Stone, turn left onto the Ojtozi Promenade, passing the Ojtozi Monument on your way back to the Hotel Lővér bus turnaround.
