Educational trails of the Sopron Mountains and the Balf spa
Two special areas of Sopron, Balf, famous for its medicinal waters, and Lőverek, a climatic spa at the foot of the Sopron Mountains, have been renovated with European Union support.
Walking along the educational trails, we can learn about the history, sights, and main natural and cultural values of the city districts.
The “Treasures of Lőver” educational trail of local history presents the exciting history, main sights, and interesting facts of Lőverek.
With the help of the educational trail signs, you can learn, for example, where the word Lőverek comes from, gain insight into the everyday life of Lőverek at the turn of the century, get acquainted with the Lőverek houses, villas, or even old crafts, sports, and entertainment opportunities.
The forest route provides an easy walk, so it can be recommended for older people, families with small children, and less fit hikers.

Sopron Lőver recreational trails:
In addition to the local history trail, additional physical rehabilitation trails offering active recreation have been created in the forest strip next to Lővér Boulevard:
- the "Family Fitness" trail starting from Várisi út with 10 stations over a 700-meter section
- the "Fitness Trail for Seniors" also starting from Várisi út, opposite the Family Fitness Trail, over 400 meters with 6 stations
- the Respiratory Therapy Trail starting from the Várisi Music Pavilion, over 500 meters with 8 stations

Visitors can choose from three trails in Balf.
- The history, built heritage and natural environment of the settlement are presented by the “Heritage of Balf” educational trail.
- By following the “Healing Water” educational trail, you can gain interesting information related to Balf’s outstanding natural treasure, the medicinal water.
- The “Blaufränkisch” virtual educational trail connects the Balf wineries of the historical wine region of Sopron.
