Sopron-Várhely Archaeological Heritage Nature Trail

Opened in 2018, the archaeological nature trail leads to the Várhely lookout tower, among early Iron Age burial mounds.

8 information boards in 3 languages present the latest research results of the Várhely (Burgstall) archaeological site, which is also of great importance in Europe.
Its starting point can be reached from Récényi út. The first information board is located at the beginning of the forestry road blocked by the boom barrier, where there is a limited number of parking spaces too. The nature trail leads through the easily walkable forest road with 2,700-year-old mound graves among the trees on either side of the road. In the central section of the nature trail, where the Cyclamen nature trail and the Amber hiking trail also pass through, you will find the memorial stone of the excavating archaeologist Lajos Bella, as well as a mound tomb and the reconstructed harrowing house, and you can also have a rest and refresh yourself on the benches here.
