"Naturally Music!" – Fourth Movement
Realized through the cooperation of the University of Sopron and the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, the series features five concerts where talented students from the Academy of Music take the stage.
However, this year's season also holds a special guest. At the opening concert of the fourth season, the guest artist will not be a student, but rather Balázs Réti, Vice-Rector General and distinguished piano professor of the Academy of Music. This special piano recital will not only serve as the opening of this year's series, but also as a tribute to the heroes of the 1956 events – to which the University of Sopron warmly invites all music lovers in Sopron. On Monday, October 26th starting at 7:00 PM, works by Liszt, Kodály, Bartók, and Puccini will be performed – and exceptionally, the venue for this festive concert will not be the Ligneum, but the Liszt Hall of the Liszt Center, ensuring that there is enough space for all interested attendees.
Admission to the concert is free, but registration is required. You can apply by emailing ligneum@uni-sopron.hu by October 19th.
At the subsequent concerts, successful students from the Academy of Music will take the stage at the Ligneum. With its excellent acoustics and friendly architectural environment, the Event Center of the University of Sopron has become one of the favorite concert venues for the Academy's students.
In November, the month of men, a seven-member male chamber formation will arrive. The "Réz körút" (Brass Route) brass septet has been playing music together since 2022: they began their joint music-making as students of the Brass Department at the University of Music. Their concert in Sopron will not only be high quality, but undoubtedly very masculine as well...
In February, folk music will resound on the Ligneum stage, as Izabella Czeilinger and friends – who also performed at the Osaka World Expo – make music in Sopron.
In March, an exciting duo, Zsombor Eszenyi and Izumi Hagiwara, are preparing a joint program: this time, the audience can get to know a magnificent woodwind instrument, the clarinet, in the leading role.
In April, the concert program promises an interesting sound world once again: through the hands of Anna Pintér and Ábel Horváth, the flute and the cimbalom will blend together at the Ligneum.
The two higher education institutions have once again managed to put together a varied, youthful, and colorful concert program. Something the University of Sopron is particularly proud of is that in the long and prestigious history of the 150-year-old Academy of Music, this is the first subscription concert series where students step in front of the audience. The musicians are happy to come to Sopron, and we hope that more and more Sopron university students will also visit these evenings: because every concert proves that classical music is classic!
Season tickets for the 5-concert series can also be purchased for 10,000 HUF online at: https://shop.uni-sopron.hu/zeneakademia
The opening performance can be attended for free, while single tickets for the other concerts can be purchased at the Ligneum before the concerts for 3,000 HUF.
