LISZT TRANSCENDENTAL 200
Liszt Ferenc Birthday Concert with Pianist János Kéry.
Date & Time: October 22, 2026, at 6:00 PM
On October 22, 2026, on the anniversary of Franz Liszt's birth, the Franz Liszt Society welcomes its audience to a special concert in Sopron.
The soloist of the evening is pianist János Kéry, who will perform the complete cycle of the 12 Transcendental Études—one of the most significant and challenging masterworks of Franz Liszt's piano literature.
The Transcendental Études represent far more than a series of virtuoso piano pieces. Each of the twelve compositions possesses its own unique character and mood: from lyrical landscapes and profound visions to dramatic, passionate movements requiring almost superhuman virtuosity, they reveal the extraordinary richness of Liszt’s musical world to the audience.
Performing the entire cycle in a single concert is a monumental musical undertaking, demanding high technical preparation, immense stamina, and a grand artistic concept from the performer.
The Liszt Transcendental 200 concert is a fitting celebration of Franz Liszt's legacy in the very city to which the composer is connected by personal and music-historical ties.
