György Cziffra Festival in Eszterháza - "ARTISTS OF THE MOMENT" - Concert by János Balázs and his chamber partners

Time: 09/17/2023 7:00 PM

Between 15th and 17th September 2023, the Cziffra György Festival awaits its art-loving audience again with music and film screenings in the MarionetteTheater of Esterházy Castle.

Participants: pianist János Balázs, flutist Massimo Mercelli, cellist Benedict Klöckner

Seizing the moment, filling it with personal content - this is the spirit of performing romantic music. On this evening, three world-renowned artists meet on stage, who fill every moment with magic with their extraordinary openness and versatility, and who consider chamber music to be the dearest and most intimate track of their professional journey. Benedict Klöckner is an outstanding cellist of his generation. He has won many competitions and awards. He performs with renowned orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London or the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie and has worked with renowned conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Christoph Eschenbach and Sir Simon Rattle. Massimo Mercelli, the Italian flutist, likes to play contemporary music, and with his playing he has already inspired influential composers such as Philip Glass or Krzysztof Penderecki. At the age of only 19, he became the first flutist at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, and as a soloist he regularly performs in the world's most prestigious concert halls. Between Beethoven's mature cello sonata, which carries the essence of romanticism, and the 22-year-old Donizetti's flute sonata, which evokes operatic forms and techniques, János Balázs forms a bridge between these two distant musical worlds with the tireless evergreens of Chopin and Liszt.(Combined program of the Cziffra Festival and Esterházy Castle)
