The second night of the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra's series in Sopron starts with an atmospheric series of Romanian folk dances by Bartók, originally composed for piano in 1915 and reworked for orchestra in 1917. In the sequel, one of the bests of cello literature, the representative Haydn composition C major concerto composed for Joseph Weigl, the virtuoso cellist of the Esterházy orchestra in the early 1760s, will be played by the versatile Dutch artist Harriet Krijgh. In the second half of the concert, one of the fundamental works in the history of symphonic music, Beethoven's huge Eroica symphony, originally intended for Napoleon in 1803, but later dedicated to the idea of heroism, will be performed by the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of the internationally renowned Austrian conductor Martin Sieghart.
